Ateneo's Sotto towers above all to top first-ever NBTC 24
Kai Sotto has been initially adjudged by sportswriters and coaches as the top high school player in the country

Ateneo de Manila High School’s Kai Sotto was named the first-ever top player in the NBTC Chooks-to-Go 24 as adjudged by a panel of sportswriters and coaches.

The NBTC Chooks-to-Go 24 is a weekly ranking of high school players taking part in the UAAP, CESAFI-NBTC, MMBL, and FCAAF tournaments as well as the recently concluded NCAA competition.

Also making the rankings of top five high school players across the country College of St. Benilde-La Salle Greenhills do-it-all floor leader Joel Cagulangan, Mapua University pillar and NCAA Juniors MVP Will Gozum, University of Sto. Tomas breakout star CJ Cansino, and dynamic point guard SJ Belangel of the Blue Eaglets.

Then rounding out the NBTC Chooks-to-Go 24 are:

12. Evan Nelle, guard, San Beda High School

13. Warren Bonifacio, center, Mapua

14. John Galinato, guard, Chiang Kai Shek

15. RJ Abarrientos, guard, FEU-Diliman

16. Terrence Fortea, guard, NU

17. Jancork Cabahug, guard/forward, University of Visayas

18. Mac Guadana, guard, Lyceum of the Philippines University

19. Raven Cortez, center, De La Salle Zobel

20. Harvey Pagsanjan, guard, Hope Christian High School

21. Jielo Razon, guard, University of Perpetual Help

22. Joem Sabandal, guard, Adamson High School

23. Maui Cruz, guard, Emilio Aguinaldo College

24. Niel Tolentino, guard/forward, Colegio de San Juan de Letran

The Juniors stars were ranked using the following criteria: league stats, impact in team, team record, leadership, defense, offense, and level of competition.

These rankings will be used to determine the 24 players who will take part in the annual SM-NBTC High School All-Star Game on March at the MOA Arena.
