Globalport dominates Blackwater for second straight win
Following a 0-2 start, the Batang Pier are now winners of two straight to climb back to .500 with a 2-2 mark.

After showing their defensive grit the last time out, the Batang Pier resumed to their scoring ways Friday in the 2018 PBA Philippine Cup.

Globalport exploded in the first half, riding its wave of momentum for a convincing 101-76 victory over the now struggling Blackwater Elite at the Cuneta Astrodome.

Following a 0-2 start, the Batang Pier are now winners of two straight to climb back to .500 with a 2-2 mark.

Global created separation in the second period, outscoring the weary Elite 33-14 and never looked back.

Taking advantae of a Blackwater team that was playing its third game in seven days, the Batang Pier led by as many as 31 points, 85-34, before posting their second-most lopsided win in franchise history.

With their offense back, head coach Pido Jarencio still focused on their defense after limiting a second straight opponent to under 80 points.

We hit our target, keeping them 80 points or below," he said.

"Everybody contributed especially Sean [Anthony] from the start kaya medyo nag-breakaway kami. Stanley [Pringle] and Kelly [Nabong] were contributing, even rookies tumulong," he added.

All players fielded by coach Pido scored against the Elite led by Sean Anthony's 22 points, 15 in the opening period. He also had seven rebounds and five assists.

Pringle fired 17 points to go along with 11 rebounds and five dimes while Nabong contributed 16 markers.

The Elite, who now lost back-to-back games following their big win against Ginebra last week, got 17 points from Mac Belo while Mike Digregorio added 15.
