Kia snaps record losing skid at the expense of ROS
Maligned over its uncoventional ways, Kia finally scored in the All-Filipino, improving its record to 1-4 following a gutsy performance against the Elasto Painters.

Kia is finally on the board.

The Picanto arrested a 16-game losing skid in the PBA, rolling to a morale-boosting win over Rain or Shine in the 2018 Philippine Cup Saturday at the Cuneta Astrodome.

Maligned over its uncoventional ways, Kia finally scored in the All-Filipino, improving its record to 1-4 following a gutsy performance against the Elasto Painters.

In a game that was marred by a near brawl in the first half, the Picanto did their best work in the second half to keep ROS, fresh from a 21-point win, at bay.

In a wild finish, Picanto almost blew the game several times but got help from ROS as the Elasto Painters failed to convert on offense.

Chris Tiu missed a couple of free throws while Ed Daquioag and Maverick Ahanmisi each missed several buckets that would have turned the tide in their favor.

Finally, with eight seconds to go, Glenn Khobuntin drilled the dagger for Kia to seal the final tally, ending the Picanto's record losing skid that spanned three PBA conferences and two separate seasons.

"We finally broke that (losing streak) and this will go a long way in our rebuilding or our ball club," head coach Ricky Dandan said.

Five players scored in double figures for Kia lead by Rashawn McCarthy and Roider Cabrera with 14 points apiece.

Veteran guard Mark Yee added another 12 points and 8 rebounds for the Picanto while Khobuntin finished with 11.

As for ROS, who dropped to 2-3 following this shocker, rookie Rey Nambatac submitted 12 points and 11 rebounds while James Yap had 11.

Overall, the Elasto Painters shot poorly from the field, conecting on only 36 percent of their attempts.
