Paranaque shoots down Caloocan to open its campaign in the inaugural Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.
Gab Dangangon fired 20 points to power the Paranaque Patriots to a 70-60 victory over Caloocan late Thursday in the inaugural Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Anta Raja Cup at the Big Dome.
The University of Perpetual Help product shot 10-of-16 from the field while grabbing nine rebounds for the Aric Del Rosario-mentored Patriots.
Jemaal Vizcarra added 14 markers while another former Perpetual star Harold Arboleda posted a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Patriots, who clamped down on defense in the final canto to shackle the Supremos to only nine points.
Paranaque protected a slim 55-51 lead at the end of the third before repelling Caloocan in the payoff period.
The Patriots held the Supremos scoreless in the last 1:17 of the game to claim the league’s opening-day victory.
Donald Gumaru and Mar Villahermosa finished with 11 each for Caloocan.
