Trevis Jackson introduced himself in Gamboa-St. Clare's first win the 2018 PBA D-League Aspirants Cup
Trevis Jackson unloaded 30 points as he lifted Gamboa Coffee Mix-St. Clare to a 104-81 victory versus Batangas-Emilio Aguinaldo College on Monday in the 2018 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at the Ynares Arena in Pasig.
The Filipino-American guard went on an ultra-efficient 12-of-17 clip from the field while also hauling down four rebounds as he delivered the Coffee Lovers’ first win of the conference.
Malian center Mohammed Pare also contributed a double-double of 18 markers and 11 boards, John Ambuludto chimed in 13 points and nine rebounds, and Aris Dionisio churned a solid nine markers and 17 boards to even Gamboa-St. Clare’s slate to 1-1.
The win was just the welcome news coach Jinino Manansala needed as he braces for a tough field this D-League conference. “Medyo mabigat yung mga school-based teams na pumasok, kaya sabi ko lang sa mga players, one game at a time. Makukuha din namin yan,” he said confidently.
Gamboa-St. Clare slowly separated itself from Batangas-EAC, using a 33-point second quarter explosion to take a 53-38 halftime edge.
Jackson then went to work as he got 12 of the Coffee Lovers’ 28 third quarter points to pull away for good and even extended the lead to as high as 31, 99-68, in the waning seconds of the game.
Chris dela Peña led Batangas-EAC (0-2) with 14 points and three rebounds while JP Maguliano got 13 markers and six boards.
