Marc Pingris is the glue that holds Magnolia together.

Where Ping goes, the Hotshots follow.

With Magnolia in trouble after losing an 18-point lead to Blackwater Friday in the Philippine Cup, Ping came to the rescue again, issuing what was essentially the game-winning assist to Ian Sangalang.

And making the little plays and getting the W makes Ping extremely happy.

"Laking tuwa ko na mabigyan ko lang ng assist yung mga teammate ko, masaya na ako dun eh. Hindi ko hinahanap yung ako yung magbe-best player o top scorer," he said.

"Hindi naman ako swapang. Gusto ko rin tulungan yung mga teammate ko, binibigyan ko rin sila ng confidence sa sarili nila. Hindi porke't kami yung senior dito, kami lang yung i-iskor," Pingris added.

True enough, the veteran forward was in giving mode against the Elite.

Ping only scored four points, but he dished out eight assists and grabbed 12 rebounds as the Hotshots took their fifth straight victory, taking a half-game lead over San Miguel for first place.

Speaking of San Miguel, the Hotshots have the three-time defending champion Beermen on their schedule next, and Ping is looking forward to a Finals-like showdown.

"Ang sa akin, kumbaga ibibigay naming yung best namin, kasi parang nasa finals na rin kami kasi kaharap namin yung defending champion eh," he said.

"Wala ng ititira pa, bigay na lahat. Hundred percent," Pingris added.
