“Short team lang muna kami ngayon, we don’t wanna look at the playoffs yet, we don’t wanna look at anything other than our first win after the losing streak.”

With their current four-game losing streak, the NLEX Road Warriors find themselves at 2-4, good for tenth in the league and two spots out of playoff contention in the 43rd PBA All Filipino Conference.

Taking on fifth-seeded Ginebra on Saturday, the Road Warriors are faced with a must-win situation.

Road Warriors head coach Yeng Guiao however, isn’t going to put that pressure on his boys.

Instead, the veteran mentor is looking to take it a game at a time, and the first order of business is to snap out of their current slump.

“Short team lang muna kami ngayon, we don’t wanna look at the playoffs yet, we don’t wanna look at anything other than our first win after the losing streak.”

The Road Warriors began the season on a 2-0 start, but has since dropped four straight, losing to Phoenix, Magnolia, San Miguel, and most recently Rain or Shine.

This will be their first time to see Ginebra this season, and Guiao wants the Road Warriors to keep their focus on beating the Gin Kings first, before anything else.

“I did not want to add any more pressure by going into other things other than just focusing on trying to win against Ginebra.”

During their final Friday practice before gameday, Guiao touched on the keys needed to overcome Ginebra, which included containing their twin towers, as well as playing at high-speed. Saturday, it all comes down to implementing the gameplan.

“Makakabigat pa sa isip namin kung marami kaming iisipin, so ngayon focus lang sa gameplan at ma-execute namin yung gameplan na yun.” Guiao added.
