Tiu leads ROS' late charge for back-to-back wins
Tiu scored five straight points starting from the 2:19 mark of the fourth, helping ROS turn a dangerous 81-79 lead into a rather safe 86-79 advantage with 36 seconds to go.

With Chris Tiu hitting clutch shots, Rain or Shine finally got its first winning streak of the season.

The Elasto Painters won back-to-back games for the first time in th 2018 PBA Philippine Cup, shutting down Meralco, 90-84, Friday at the MOA Arena.

Tiu scored five straight points starting from the 2:19 mark of the fourth, helping ROS turn a dangerous 81-79 lead into a rather safe 86-79 advantage with 36 seconds to go.

As such, the Elasto Painters improved to 4-3 in the standings, tied with idle TNT for fourth place.

"I hope tuluy-tuloy na but we play Magnolia on Friday and I think they're the hottest team now. And Paul will play that game," head coach Caloy Garcia said when asked about ROS picking up its first winning streak of the year.

"Like I said, we just have to think how we can get better. Yun lang," he added.

ROS was in control for most of the game but was only able to create real separation in the final minutes, all thanks to Tiu's late-game brilliance.

With Tiu leading the charge, ROS' 7-0 run to take an 86-79 lead turned out be the game's difference.

The former Ateneo star led the Elasto Painters with 18 points, 13 in the fourth, on top of seven assists. Ed Daquioag added anotehr 16 while Beau Belga was good for 13 points.

For Meralco, it was KG Canaleta with the hot hand, firing 24 points. However, after KG, only Reynel Hugnatan finished in double figures for the now 2-5 Bolts with 13 points.
