ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal --- San Miguel is still missing Alex Cabagnot for a couple of weeks and while the Beermen are loaded, someone has to play that other guard spot alongside Chris Ross.
Lately, Chico Lanete has been filling in for Cabagnot. Admittedly, he has some big shoes to fill.
And it San Miguel's rousing comeback win over Magnolia Sunday at the Ynaraes Center here to regain first place, Lanete showed that he can handle things while Cabagnot is out for the time being.
In a game where San Miguel's shooting overall as a team was ridiculously bad at 31 percent, Lanete ended up going for 4-of-6 from beyond the arc for 66 percent.
Of his four treys, none was more crucial than the one he fired with 1:34 to go which served as the final go-ahead bucket for the Beermen after trailing by as many as 16 points.
Chico finished with 14 points against the Hotshots. He also had four rebounds and four assists in almost 23 minutes off the bench.
For him, it's just trying to make the most out of his few opportunities with the loaded Beermen.
