"Sanay na tayo diyan,"Chot Reyes said on Gilas Pilipinas once again scrambling for time.
Gilas Pilipinas is only a little over two weeks away from its mega showdown against Australia in the first round of the 2019 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers and yet the national team still has no schedule for daily practice.
After wrapping up its fifth straight once-a-week session Monday, the national team can only wait when they can fully go hard in training with its complete main line-up.
As of now, on top of the no definite practice schedule, the PBA's release for Gilas Pilipinas players still has no final date yet.
But hopefully, all of that will be resolved soon.
"Constant usap yun with the Commissioner's office. Commissioner Willie was here and hopefully, we get them [players] starting Feb. 12, at least one week before we leave [for Australia]," head coach Chot Reyes said.
"But again, that's going to have to be a determination made by the PBA," he added.
Gilas scrambling for time has been a problem for the longest time, particularly last year.
But with no other choice, the national team will have to make do with what they currently have.
"Sanay na tayo diyan," Reyes said.
"Umalis nga tayo for Beirut [2017 FIBA Asia Cup]... three days lang tayo nabuo. Sa Beirut nga lang kami nabuo but it is what it is. You tell me okay ba yun? Hindi. Of course the more time the better pero wala eh, that's out of our hands," he added.
Gilas Pilipinas will face the Boomers on the road on Feb. 22 before hosting Japan on Feb. 25.
