If you're wondering why Mac Belo was out during Blackwater's shocking upset of San Miguel in the PBA Philippine Cup Friday, it turns out that the former FEU Tamaraw had a minor injury setback while doing extra training.
According to head coach Leo Isaac, his star forward basically hurt his hamstring area after a round on a stationary bike.
And while the injury was only minor, the Elite opted to sit Big Mac out against the Beermen just to make sure.
"May konting strain sa ITB niya. I don't know kung ano layman's term sa ITB but napwersa siya nag-extra work siya Wednesday night, nag-bike siya and sabi niya pagkatapos niyang mag-bike parang nahirapan na siyang maglakad," Isaac said of Belo.
"Kanina sa warm-up wala namang masakit but we don't want to take risks, we want to preserve the player until we get an evaluation and that's the time we will play Mac Belo," he added.
Set for a medical appointmen next week, Belo is hopeful to return in Blackwater's next game.
He also assured that his injury is not anything serious.
"Oo nabigla lang. Pero nagpacheck ako kahapon, sabi ng doktor nastrain lang daw. Kailangan lang ng rest," he said.
"Papa-check ulit ako next week sa doctor. Sana saglit lang," Belo added.
