Mom inspires Mike Digregorio's big game
Mike Digregorio fired 26 points as Blackwater upset San Miguel Beer in the Philippine Cup.

Mike Digregorio really wanted to have a big game against San Miguel Friday in the Philippine Cup.

Because after Blackwater's loss to Magnolia last week, Digregorio had it pretty bad from his mom. She basically told him his play wasn't up to par.

And so Mike Digregorio wanted to bounce back good.

"I really wanted to prove to everybody and remind everybody, more importantly myself, what kind of player I am. And my mom, she lit a fire under me," he said.

"This one is for my mom, she's a big basketball junkie and my harshest critic. She calls me after every game and she really let me have it after last game, she told me I wasn't playing aggressive enough and I didn't look like myself the last game. She really let me have it," Digregorio said.

Against the three-time defending champion Beermen though, Digregorio had a performance that should be worthy of an A+ grade from his mom.

Leading Blackwater's upset of the Beermen, Digregorio fired 26 points, 15 from distance, three rebounds, and five assists.

He drilled 11 points in the fourth quarter alone, including two clutch treys in the final 1:37 of the game to seal the win.

"She's really blunt and straightforward but I appreciate her a lot because I came in today with the right mindset," Digregorio said, still talking about his mom.

"Today, I really had a lot of motivation to go out and be aggressive. I think we were on a four-game slide right? And with Mac [Belo] not playing, I really wanted to be assertive," he added.

Well, mothers know best right?
