Globalport jumps on TNT early to secure solo 7th
The win put Global to 4-4, good for for 7th place for the time being.

Globalport is making its cse for the 2018 PBA Philippine Cup playoffs.

The Batang Pier jumped on TNT KaTropa early, riding a strong start to a crucial 99-84 win Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum.

"We started aggressive. Ang mindset namin, yung TNT they played three games in a week. Sabi namin lets take that advantage, push ng push, aggressive and physical sa depensa," head coach Pido Jarencio said.

"Siguro gusto ng players pumasok ng playoffs at ito ang chance namin," he added.

True enough, the Batang Pier started on fire, taking a 15-1 lead right off the bat.

Global led by as many as 30 points in the second half, which was more than enough to hold the KaTropa's rally in the fourth.

TNT got as close to 10 points after a triple from Jayson Castro with about two minutes to go but that proved to be the KaTropa's final basket of the game.

Six players scored in double figures for the Batang Pier led by Nico Elorde with 17 points. He also had seven rebounds and seven assists.

Stanley Pringle added 16 points for Global.

As for TNT, now losers of three straight as has dropped to 9th place with a 4-6 mark, Castro scored 24 points.

Kelly Williams added 21 points and 12 rebounds but it was not enough for the KaTropa to recover from their poor start.
