Career high is nice but winning comes first for Rome

While defense is the team's main calling card, Magnolia is certainly not short on scorers.

And over the past couple of games in the 2018 PBA Philippine Cup, the Hotshots have found another dependable option on offense.

Rome dela Rosa has been a revelation for Magnolia as the former San Beda forward has set a new career high in three of his last four games.

Friday against Globalport was the latest one with dela Rosa, going for 18 points, leading the Hotshots to a convincing win over the Batang Pier.

But more than the career high in points, Rome is more proud of helping Magnolia get that elusive 7th win.

The Hotshots, after all, are in a heated race for the top-2 spots in the All-Filipino.

"The career high, I'm just thankful to God that it happened but the win is the most important thing," he said.

"It was a must-win for us and just to be up there, we're assured of the quarters but you wanna be number 1 or number 2 with the twice-to-beat. That's our goal and hopefully we could get it," dela Rosa added.

More known for his defense, dela Rosa says he doesn't mind the load on offense.

If he continues to get the chance, he'll take it just to help the Hotshots win.

"If the opportunity comes, of course. I've been working on it and the coaches trust me to make plays," Rome said.

"We'll see. I'll just continue to work hard and whatever I can do to help the team win, that's the most important thing naman," he said.
