Batangas squeaked past Navotas for a share of the lead with Quezon City.
Batangas remained unbeaten and climbed back to a share of the lead after tackling down Navotas, 80-71, to break the hearts of the home crowd at the Navotas Sports Complex in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Anta Rajah Cup late Saturday.
The Athletics crushed the Clutch to earn their fourth win in as many games to tie idle Quezon City on top of the standing.
Batangas showcased good scoring distribution with Val Acuna leading the way with 17 points, Teytey Teodoro got 14 while Paul Varilla and Kier Quinto scored 11 each. Jhaymo Eguilos had a double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds for the Athletics.
Batangas ignited a 17-9 rally midway in the fourth period to break a 62-62 deadlock and build a 79-69 lead with just 40 seconds remaining in the game.
Navotas slid back to 2-2 card with Ron Dennison and JP Calvo’s 14 and 13 points, respectively, going down the drain.
Meanwhile, Bulacan vented its ire on Caloocan, 92-74, to get back on the winning track.
The Kuyas improved to 2-3 slate while the Supremos absorbed their fourth loss in five games.
