"Binibigay natin sa kanila yun, pero pag trabaho, trabaho naman yang mga yan," --- Pido Jarencio on Ryan Arana drawing up a play for Globalport against Kia.
With a win over Kia already in the bag, Globalport decided to go full Golden State on the Picanto and had reserve guard Ryan Arana draw up a play for the team.
Well it worked... sort of.
"Una muna sa depensa. Tinanong ko sila kung ano gusto nilang play. Switch everything daw, so switch everything kami," Arana said.
"And then yung last play namin is yung 'Y' pero pag dating ng eight seconds, bababa na yung dalawang bigs, magwa-one-on-one na si Stanley. Naka-score kami, pero nag-sub kaya hindi natuloy yung play, so galit na galit ako sa gilid," he added.
While it was all fun and games when they already got the decision in the bag, head coach Pido Jarencio says that business will be taken care of course and it takes priority over anything.
"Binibigay natin sa kanila yun, pero pag trabaho, trabaho naman yang mga yan," he said.
But it's always good to have fun once in a while and so that's what the Batang Pier did.
"Si coach kasi, kilala naman natin na very cool yan eh, parang tropa mo lang pag nasa court, kahit sa practice. Kanina, habang naghu-huddle sila, umupo lang ako then binigay sa akin yung board: 'Sige, Ry, ikaw mag-drawing ng last play for Stanley.' So nag-drawing ako and everyone was listening," Arana said.
"Yun yung kagandahan sa team namin kasi si coach Pido, pwedeng biru-biruin mo lang eh. At the same time, respeto namin kay coach Pido is mataas," he added.
