Casio's triple-double leads Alaska to big win over ROS
Alaska broke the Elasto Painters' three-game winning run all while snapping its own two-game slide, finishing with a 7-4 record in the elimination round.

Alaska had no chance at getting a shot at a top-2 finish entering the 2018 PBA Philippine Cup playoffs however, the Aces made sure they'll enter the post-season on a high note.

Led by Jvee Casio, the Aces survived the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters Friday at the Big Dome, 99-95.

Alaska broke the Elasto Painters' three-game winning run all while snapping its own two-game slide, finishing with a 7-4 record in the elimination round.

The Aces will now wait for their opponent in the best-of-3 quarterfinals.

"What a game. What a game. Awesome game, playoff basketball," head coach Alex Compton said.

"I just really appreciate the efforts of our guys to weather the storm and keep coming," he added.

The Aces engaged the Elasto Painters in what was essentially a playoff game that was highlighted by 33 lead changes.

Down one with 1:30 to go after James Yap's floater, Alaska regained the lead for good after Vic Manuel powered his way for two points with 39 seconds remaining.

Casio then sank two free throws in the final 11 seconds to give the Aces a three-point lead. ROS failed to answer on the other end as Mark Borboran missed the game-tying triple from the wing.

Casio was big time for Alaska, finishing with a triple-double of 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. Rookie Jeron Teng and Marion Magat added 14 each to back him up while Kevin Racal finished with 13 points.

Manuel scored 12 for the Aces.

As for ROS, Maverick Ahanmisi led the way with 23 points while Yap was good for 17. At 5-4, the Elasto Painters failed to punch their ticket to the quarterfinals. They have two chances left against San Miguel and Ginebra next week.
