Castro returns to lead Gilas Pilipinas vs. Japan
Castro sat out Gilas' showdown with Australia in Melbourne Thursday due to an ankle injury. The Philippines lost by 16.

AFter a one-game hiatus, Jayson Castro is back in harness for Gilas Pililpinas.

The Blur will lead the Philippines Sunday in its homestand against the Japanese at the MOA Arena where the first round of the 2019 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers will continue.

Castro sat out Gilas' showdown with Australia in Melbourne Thursday due to an ankle injury. The Philippines lost by 16.

However, the Blur should be a welcome addition to head coach Chot Reyes' crew as Gilas Pilipinas look to bounce back and imrpove its record in Group B tp 3-1.

Castro averaged 20 points in the first window back in November and was largely responsible for the first pair of wins recorded by the national team.

Joining Castro in the final lineup against the Akatsuki 5 are Andray Blatche, June Mar Fajardo, Japeth Aguilar, RR Pogoy, Kiefer  Ravena, Matthew Wright, Calvin Abueva, Allein Maliksi, and team captain Gabe Norwood.

Jio Jalalon and Troy Rosario are also listed as active against Japan. Kevin Alas, Carl Bryan Cruz, and Abu Tratter will sit out the rest of the second window.
