Hotshots clinch playoff bonus after destroying Meralco
Magnolia shut down Meralco, limiting the Bolts to less than 20 points in each quarter on its way to its eighth win in the elimination round.

Magnolia finally clinched its playoff bonus in the 2018 PBA Philippine Cup.

In a dominating performance, the Hotshots destroyed the Meralco Bolts Saturday, scoring a convincing 94-65 win at the Xavier University Gym in Cagayan De Oro City.

Magnolia shut down Meralco, limiting the Bolts to less than 20 points in each quarter on its way to its eighth win in the elimination round.

The Hotshots finished the regular season with an 8-3 mark, joining three-time defending champion San Miguel Beer in the top 2.

Paul Lee was back to his usual self, leading Magnolia in scoring at 21 points in under 20 minutes of play. Ian Sangalang and Robbie Herndon scored 12 and 10 points respectively for the Hotshots.

As for Meralco, its playoff chase in the All-Filipino ends with this loss. The Bolts will finish with a 4-7 record.

Chris Newsome paced Meralco with 13 points.
