PBA great Danny Florencio died of heart attack over the weekend.
Former pro-basketball player Danny Florencio passed away Saturday (US Pacific time) after suffering a heart attack in Velif, California.
He was 70.
A member of the PBA’s ‘40 greatest players list’, Florencio played for U-tex, 7-Up, Toyota, and Galerie Dominique.
He dropped a record 64 points for 7-Up in a lost cause back in November 1977. It stood for 14 years until Allan Caidic broke it by scoring 79.
Florencio, one of the most revered basketball players in the history of University of Santo Tomas, suited up for the Philippine team that competed in Munich Olympics in 1972.
He played in the MICAA league before moving in the PBA, where he played for eight seasons.
Florencio is the ninth-fastest player to score 5,000 points.
