"At least we have another day to live. Sarado pa naman Boracay ngayon, wala pa kaming pagbabaksyunan." --- Louie Alas.
By winning against Globalport, Phoenix avoided elimination in the 2018 Philippine Cup.
Now, the Fuel Masters have the chance to end up as a the 7th seed or go through a playoff for the no. 8 spot.
At this juncture, anything is better than an early elimnation really, and the Fuel Masters gave themselves a chance to advance by stopping the Batang Pier Friday, even though they only ended up winning by four despite leading by as many as 31 points.
"Sabi nga ng mga idol kong coaches, 'a win is a win,'" head coach Louie Alas said on his team's near collapse.
"But we have to learn from it, di kami natuto eh. This is the fourth, fifth time. Kung malaki di lead namin, baka nandin kami sa kabilang side [losing side]," he added.
Phoenix's final playoff seed is totally out of their control. The only thing that they could manage was the game against Globalport.
The Fuel Masters handled their business and they now avoid an early vacation.
Well, they have no place to go for vacation anyway, might as well continue playing.
"At least may chance pa," Alas said.
"At least we have another day to live. Sarado pa naman Boracay ngayon, wala pa kaming pagbabaksyunan," he added.
