Things got heated between Phoenix head coach Louie Alas and Globalport forward Kelly Nabong in the Philippine Cup.
In another unfortunate incident, Globalport's Kelly Nabong earned himself an ejection after going after game officials and Phoenix head coach Louie Alas.
After a series of non-calls that didn't go his way, Nabong snapped late in the first half of the Phoenix-Globalport matchup in the Philippine Cup Friday at the Big Dome.
Nabong first went after the referees, asking for a foul on his previous offensive play.
He then went after Alas and the two exchanged profanities and middle fingers.
Both Alas and Nabong were then called for a technical foul for profane language but the Globalport forward was tossed after he got another tech for disrepecting a game official.
"I don't know, kinausap ko yung referee kasi minura na siya ni [Kelly]. Sabi ko 'ref, you have to control him,'" Alas said on the incident.
"May sinabi siyang bad word [sakin] eh. Sabi ko you picked the wrong guy so nagmura lang ng namura. Di naman pwedeng ganoon. Wala siyang... napaka-disrespectful siya," he added.
Alas even went to Nabong's previous history with Meralco after the incident.
Nabong was suspended by the Bolts after he had a bench altercation with assistant coach Jimmy Alapag during Game 1 of the 2017 Governors' Cup semifinals.
Nabong was later released and he found himself with Globalport.
"Wala na nga siya sa kabilang team eh. Sabi nga natin, dapat sa pinanggalingan, dapat natututo tayo sa lessons," Alas said.
"But anyway, spur of the moment yun eh. Iniintindi ko na lang. Di sya pwedeng ganoon, di naman tayo tumanda ng ganito para [murahin] di ba," he added.
