Ngayon naninibago ako, dati parang common lang sa akin. Alam ko kaagad kung ano ang gagawin ko -- GlobalPort guard Terrence Romeo on his return to action after a long layoff
GlobalPort prized guard Terrence Romeo felt that he was far from being the same player that he used to be almost six months ago.
Back with the Batang Pier for the first time after 11 games into the 2018 PBA Philippine Cup Friday, Romeo knew that he still has a lot to work on to get back to his old form.
“Wala ayun ang layo pa, wala pa sa timing. May mga ibang shots sa game na kinakapa ko pa tapos ‘yung ibang play iniisip ko pa kapag tinatawag kasi four days pa lang ano nakapag-ensayo,” said Romeo, who scored 20 points in his season debut in a losing cause for GlobalPort.
The Batang Pier gave Phoenix a scare after chipping away a 31-point deficit before yielding 100-104 at the Big Dome for a four-way logjam at 5-6 win-loss record with their tormentors, Talk ‘N Text, Blackwater.
Romeo, who suffered a knee contusion, last suited up against Blackwater in the 2017 Governors’ Cup last September in GlobalPort’s second to the last elims match.
“Medyo naninibago. Medyo iba ‘yung laro sa PBA eh,” said Romeo of his return to the hardcourt. “Kasi ang laro ko parang, ang pinakapapawis ko is jogging lang.”
“Ito may mga kabanggaan ako na malalakas ang katawan so panibagong ano.. saka yung mga looks na ibinibigay ng depensa, ngayon ko na lang ulit nakita although lagi kong nakikita sa akin. Yung mga trap, mga sino-show hard ako, tina-trap ako,” added Romeo, who had two rebounds, an assist, a steal and two turnovers while hitting 8-of-18 from the field. “Ngayon naninibago ako, dati parang common lang sa akin. Alam ko kaagad kung ano ang gagawin ko. Di bale yung sa adjustment, makaka-adjust ako hopefully.”
“Hopefully by next game maka-adjust na ako,” he said. “Kailangan ko lang panoorin ang game na ‘to and pag-aralan tapos praktisin ang mga dapat kong gawin.”
