Here are the scenarios as to what's going to happen after the last pair of games in the regular season.
As per usual, the race to the PBA playoffs is a wild one and the 2018 Philippine Cup is no different.
The final day of the elimination round will not decide the final eight competitors for the All-Filipino title, we'll need an additional playoff for that.
However, here are the scenarios as to what's going to happen after the last pair of games in the regular season.
These are unofficial of course and will be subject to changes depending on the actual final results.
1. Globalport and Ginebra win.
If the Batang Pier and the Gin Kings take care of business Friday, the top-5 finishers will be San Miguel, Magnolia, Alaska, Ginebra, and NLEX.
Rain or Shine will be no. 6 while Globalport is no. 7. The playoff for no. 8 will then feature TNT and Blackwater.
2. Globalport and Rain or Shine win.
If the Elasto Painters win as well as Global, the Elasto Painters take over the fourth spot behind San Miguel, Magnolia, and Alaska.
The Batang Pier are then sixth behind NLEX and Blackwater will get a free ride to the playoffs as the 7th seed.
Playoff for 8th will be between Ginebra and TNT.
3. Phoenix and Ginebra win.
Now it starts to get a little complicated.
If this scenario happens, San Miguel, Magnolia, and Alaska will be the top 3 followed by Rain or Shine at fourth, Ginebra at fifth, and NLEX ast sixth.
There will be four-way tie as Global, Phoenix, TNT, and Blackwater all end up with identical 5-6 marks but it appears that the Batang Pier will get the best quotient anyway and the possible playoff will be between KaTropa and the Fuel Masters.
Sadly for Elite fans, it looks like Blackwater will be left out in this scenario due to inferior quotient.
4. Phoenix and Rain or Shine win.
Similar to the third scenario, this one is complicated because of the multiple ties at the bottom.
However, the top-5 here will be composed of San Miguel, Magnolia, Alaska, ROS, and NLEX.
Based on the current projection, if this scenario takes place, Global and Phoenix take ver no. 6 and no. 7 respectively while the battle for 8th will be between Ginebra and Blackwater. TNT is the loser in this scenario.
