"Talagang pag ganitong situation, dun talaga yung conditioning ng players, yung tougness at yung focus sa game kung gaano mo ka-gusto makuha yung panalo," --- Scottie Thompson.
Scottie Thompson says they didn't expect their game against Rain or Shine to go into triple overtime.
Well to be fair, no one expected the Ginebra-ROS game to go into triple overtime.
Despite the circumstances though, it didn't stop Scottie Thompson to play his usual self for the barangay.
Logging in 38 and a half minutes, Thompson finished with 10 points, 17 rebounds, three assists and zero turnovers for the Gin Kings, helping the barangay take a 100-92 win.
"Di talaga namin inaasahan yung triple overtime pero siguro nga, ayaw din ibigay ng bawat isa. Gustung-gusto lahat manalo, placing din eh," Scottie said.
"Siguro talaga nag-stick lang kami sa system ni coach Tim. Talagang nung sa dulo, ano na talaga yun, dun mo na makikita yung conditioning sa mga player, yung stamina. Players game na yun," he added.
The triple OT showdown proved to be a nice playoff preview for both teams as Ginebra and Rain or Shine will meet once again in a couple of days for Game 1 of their best-of-3 quarterfinals series.
This marathon of a contest has dual effect says Thompson.
"Positive and negative. Malaking tulong na nakuha namin yung panalo, at the same time, sila din makakalaban namin. Sigurado yan na magview-viewing yan, makikita nila mga lapses namin," he said.
But still, the triple overtime showdown was a nice way to develop some character according to Scottie.
"Talagang pag ganitong situation, dun talaga yung conditioning ng players, yung tougness at yung focus sa game kung gaano mo ka-gusto makuha yung panalo," he said.
