Looks like Alab Pilipinas cooled down following a two-week layoff
Alab Pilipinas was not the same Alab Pilipinas which had rang off eight wins in a row in the 2017-2018 Asean Basketball League.
Instead, coming off a two-week layoff, the Filipinos weren't on-point and got ambushed by home team Westports Malaysia, 89-90, on Sunday at the MABA Stadium in Kuala Lumpur.
Filipino-American Joshua Munzon's split from the stripe proved to be the difference for the Malaysians who were in dire need of a win to remain in contention.
Dondon Hontiveros had a shot to win the game at the buzzer, but muffed on his triple try.
With that, the Philippines is no longer the hottest team in the league and dropped to 11-5. More than that, they lost grip of solo second and now stand at fourth.
