Super Scottie leads Ginebra over ROS again
After a 10-point, 17-rebound performance in the triple overtime game last Friday, Thompson showed up Monday and gave Ginebra 14 points, 15 rebounds, and seven assists.

Ginebra and Rain or Shine's first pair of games in the 2018 PBA Philippine Cup have been grind-out affairs.

Just the way Scottie Thompson likes it.

In the first two Ginebra-Rain or Shine games in the All-Filipino, Scottie has been crucial for the barangay, helping the Gin Kings pull off two wins and a 1-0 lead in the best-of-3 quarterfinals series.

After a 10-point, 17-rebound performance in the triple overtime game last Friday, Thompson showed up Monday and gave Ginebra 14 points, 15 rebounds, and seven assists.

"We know this is a tough game. Talagang bakbakan to. Dinoble ko lang yung sipag ko, buti okay yung result," Thompson said.

The nature of the Rain or Shine games are certainly similar to the way the NCAA was played back when Thompson starred for Perpetual Help.

Fortunately, Thompson the Gin King also plays similar to Thompson as a member of the Altas, maybe even better.

"Wish ko dati sana madala ko yung NCAA performance ko dito sa PBA," Scottie said.

"I think through hard work, nagpay-off naman," he added.

Beating Rain or Shine three straight times in less than a week will be a feat in itself.

That's why the Gin Kings are bracing for an answer from the Elasto Painters in Game 2 on Wednesday.

"We know Rain or Shine is a tough team din so alam nila yung mga lapses namin," Thompson said.

"Pag-aaralan nila. Kami rin, maga-adjust kami sa mga lapses namin. Hopefully, makuha namin [panalo]," he added.
