His relentless play off the bench has led to the conference, one of the more prestigious collegiate conferences to hand out the award for the first time since 1987.
Martin, who has expressed his excitement over his inclusion in the #23for23 list released by national team head coach Chot Reyes earlier in January, had a breakout game against the Kansas Jayhawks last December, scoring 21 points and stealing the ball six times towards and upset 95-85 win.
Both Martin and Collier meanwhile will face off in the first round of the PAC-12 Tournament as the Sun Devils and Buffaloes face off this Thursday at 4 a.m., in Martin's home court at the Wells Fargo Arena in Tempe.
