June Mar's 35 points tow Beermen to another semis appearance
With no. 8 TNT looking to steal one over the top-seeded Beermen, Fajardo and Santos put up a strong fourth-quarter perfomance and the three-time defending champions advanced to yet another semis appearance.

San Miguel's pair of Most Valuable Players went to work against TNT.

June Mar Fajardo and Arwind Santos teamed up in the fourth quarter to stop the KaTropa, 106-93, in the 2018 PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinals Tuesday at the MOA Arena.

With no. 8 TNT looking to steal one over the top-seeded Beermen, Fajardo and Santos put up a strong fourth-quarter perfomance, combining for 16 of San Miguel's 29 points, and the three-time defending champions advanced to yet another semis appearance.

The Beermen will now wait for the winner of the Ginebra-ROS series in the next round.

It was an emotional win for the team as head coach Leo Austria's wife went through a kidney transplant.

Coach Leo's wife is doing well now, fortunately.

"First of all I want to praise God. I never had sleep last night because of my wife. She's been under... she undergone a kidney transplant but thank you Lord, very successful operation for her, and I know she's watching right now," Austria said.

"We followed our game plan to the letter, and that's the result. Thank you San Miguel, especially my player, for giving this win. Thank you," he added.

While the Beermen were in control all game long, the KaTropa fought to the end and the champs didn't pull away until the final two minutes.

Fajardo was simply unstoppable, making all but four of his 19 shots to finish with 35 points and 11 rebounds.

Marcio Lassister added 20 for the Beermen while Santos scored 10 of his 15 points in the fourth before getting ejected after two technical fouls. Arwind also had seven rebounds, four assists, four blocks, and four steals.

For the KaTropa, their All-Filipino campaign ended at the hands of the Beermen yet again.

Five players finished in double figures for TNT lead by Jayson Castro and Troy Rosario with 19 points apiece.

RR Pogoy and Anthony Semerad dropped 17 and 16 points respectively while Kelly Williams was good for 15.
