Magnolia makes another semifinals.

The Hotshots recovered from an early 20-point deficit to stun Globalport in the 2018 PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinals, scoring a 86-79 come-from-behind win Tuesday at the MOA Arena.

Magnolia made good use of its twice-to-beat advantage, eliminating the game Batang Pier after just one game. Head coach Chito Victolero's crew will now wait for either NLEX or Alaska in the semis.

"It was a very tough game for us. We expect yung aggressiveness an energy ng Global but yung ganoong start, grabe yung atake nila in the first quarter," Victolero said.

"Kumbaga, na-outplay nila kami in the first half. Good thing we have a second half to recover," he added.

The no. 7 Batang Pier came out firing in the opening period, unloading a 14-0 run for a quick 26-6 lead.

However, the Hotshots settled down, answering with a 16-0 blast to trim the deficit to four, 32-36, in the second quarter.

Things started to unravel for Globalport in the second half as head coach Pido Jarencio and star guard Terrence Romeo got into an argument after Magnolia finally took the lead late in the third.

With their conference on the line, the Batang Pier made one final rally in the fourth only to fall short.

Mark Barroca led the way for the no. 2 Hotshots, firing 17 points.

Paul Lee finished with a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds while Marc Pingris was good for 13 points and nine boards.

For Globalport, Stanley Pringle sizzled for 31 points, 13 in the opening period. However, he didn't have much backup as Romeo was the only other Batang Pier to score in double figures with 14.
