Alas on acrobatic layup to seal win: Tsamba lang yun eh
"Nakita ko sasabay, binali ko. Ginagawa ko naman sa practice so thank God pumasok yun, taas ng pektus eh. Parang yun na yung tira ko since college pa, thank God nagamit ko end game pa." --- Kevin Alas.
Kevin Alas is actually a PBA champion already, he won the 2015 Commissioner's Cup with Talk 'N Text.
However, that feels so long ago.
"Parang ang tagal ko ng huling nakapag-semis," Alas said Wednesday after NLEX completed a sweep of Alaska to advance in the 2018 Philippine Cup.
"Parang it's an unfamiliar feeling for me now, di ko na matandaan yung feeling so I'm happy," he added.
After a slow start to his season, Alas has slowly picked up steam.
The former no. 2 overall pick was the leading scorer for the Road Warriors in the closeout game against the Aces, finishing with 18 points. He also drilled a ridiculous acrobatic layup in the final minute to seal the final tally.
"Tsamba lang yun eh," he said of the layup.
"Nakita ko sasabay, binali ko. Ginagawa ko naman sa practice so thank God pumasok yun, taas ng pektus eh. Parang yun na yung tira ko since college pa, thank God nagamit ko end game pa," he added.
With a showdown against the deep Magnolia team coming up, Alas and the "K and K" backcourt with Kiefer Ravena will be challenged.
Kevin is up for it.
"Sobrang lalim nung guard rotation ng Magnolia. Actually yun nga, one of the teams na nahirapan kami nung eliminations eh," Alas said.
"We really have to prepare hard for them. Ma-pressure pa mga guards nila so nakakapagod yun sure sa amin," he added.
