Coach Joe Silva: 'Sorry Dave, naunahan ako'

These three will not be wearing the same uniform come the 2018 NBTC All-Star Game
Ateneo de Manila High School has four representatives in the 2018 NBTC All-Star Game - three players in towering teen Kai Sotto, court general SJ Belangel, and versatile wing Dave Ildefonso as well as one coach in Joe Silva.
All four of them were almost part of one team in the showdown scheduled on March 23 at the MOA Arena.
Silva, choosing for head coach Topex Robinson in the draft last Thursday, got Sotto and Belangel with his first three selections.
Right after, however, opposing coach Marvin Bienvenida picked Ildefonso for Team Gavina.
And so, Ildefonso will now stand opposite Sotto, Belangel, and Silva.
Isn’t that interesting?
Reacting to what happened, all Silva could say was, “Sorry, Dave. Naunahan ako e.”
The Blue Eaglets mentor had earlier stated that he would have loved to have all three of his wards still on the same team in the All-Star Game.
It wasn’t meant to be, however.
Still, this kind of dynamic is exactly what makes the NBTC All-Star Game the premiere high school showcase in the Philippines.
Just look at these teams and all the players being pitted against one another.
There’s Ildefonso versus Sotto and Belangel; there’s the Mapua University twin towers torn apart with Will Gozum up against Warren Bonifacio and Clint Escamis; and there’s the Far Eastern University-Diliman backcourt in L-Jay Gonzales and RJ Abarrientos.
Then who isn’t excited for Bonifacio, Aaron Fermin, and Raven Cortez getting together to try and stop the Sotto-Gozum combo.
Patience is a virtue and only a two-week wait is needed when the 2018 NBTC All-Star Game tips-off LIVE and EXCLUSIVE on S+A, S+A HD, and livestream.
