Lost in the flood of announcements and breaking news of Kobe Paras' decision to go pro was his reason behind it.

Kobe announced Friday afternoon that he was forgoing college after playing one year for Creighton University, to test the waters.

The 20-year-old Pinoy basketball phenomenon bared his decision via social media, and in his Instagram post, he shared his thoughts.

"I know it seems like a giant step that no one was expecting, but that is what makes this one of the greatest announcements of my life," the caption said.

Kobe then offered some parting words to his two former colleges back in the U.S.

"I am a Bluejay & Matador at heart and thank Coach Theus and the CSUN staff for everything," he said.

Ultimately for Kobe, who is the youngest son of Pinoy basketball legend Benjie, his decision was based on his personal and continuous quest for greatness.

"It'time for me to shape my own destiny in an even bigger wave," Paras bared.
