NO SWEEP: Ginebra takes Game 3 over San Miguel
Unlike in Game 2 Sunday, the Gin Kings were able to protect their double-digit lead this time around and cut their series deficit in half, 1-2.

No sweep.

Brgy. Ginebra is finally on the board in the 2018 PBA Philippine Cup semifinals, avoiding another collapse to win Game 3 against San Miguel Beer, 95-87, Tuesday at the MOA Arena.

Unlike in Game 2 Sunday, the Gin Kings were able to protect their double-digit lead this time around and cut their series deficit in half, 1-2.

Up by 14 to start the fourth, Ginebra appeared to be in trouble again as the Beermen roared back to within three points, 80-83.

Fortunately, Prince Caperal came to the rescue of the barangay again as the recently-aquired big man, a revelation in this series so far, buried a desperation three to beat the shot clock to restore a six-point lead.

The reigning three-time champions would come to within three again in the last two minutes but LA Tenorio put the finishing touches in the win with a final and-one play with 32 seconds to go.

"It seems like we have to play perfect and they just come out and play. They’re just so free-flowing and they’re just out there enjoying themselves and having a good time and we have to bleed for every possession," head coach Tim COne siad.

"We have to play perfect to beat them and we almost played perfect tonight," he added.

Led by Japeth Aguilar's 25 points and 12 rebounds, Ginebra led by as many as 14 in the second half.

LA Tenorio added 18 points for the Gin Kings while Prince Caperal and Jervy Cruz scored 12 apiece.

For San Miguel, who lost a game for the first time in these playoffs, June Mar Fajardo dropped 23, 18 in the second half, on top of 16 rebounds.

Game 4 is set for Thursday.
