Alab Pilipinas arrests two-game slide in blowout win

San Miguel-Alab Pilipinas snapped a two-game side with a mighty bounce back win over visiting Saigon Heat.
San Miguel-Alab Pilipinas halted a two-game slide with an emphatic 126-100 drubbing of Saigon Heat in the 2017-18 Asean Basketball League Wednesday night in front a rocking crowd inside the USEP Gym in Davao City.
The home team poured a whopping 72 points in a scoring clinic in the second and third quarters to turn a close game at the end of the first 10 minutes of action into a merciless blowout.
Alab Pilipinas tied Mono Vampire at 12-6 win-loss record with Puerto Rican reinforcement Renaldo Balkman and American import Justin Brownlee doing most of the damage early before taking an early rest.
Balkman finished with 30 points and grabbed seven rebounds while Brownlee posted double-double with 24 markers and 13 boards with four assists for Alab Pilipinas. Pamboy Raymundo and Bobby Ray Parks chipped in with 13 points each for the home team.
Alab Pilipinas closed the opening period with a slim 29-25 lead before peppering the Vietnamese squad with a scoring barrage to build a huge cushion that even ballooned to 126-94 with 1:39 left in the ballgame off a basket by JR Alabanza.
Saigon Heat dropped to 9-9 slate and saw its two-game winning run snapped.
Maxie Esho scored 24 points while Michael Williams got 19 points, six rebounds and five assists for Saigon Heat.
