Beermen smash Gin Kings to take commanding 3-1 lead
Armed with a 3-1 lead, San Miguel now has three chances to finish off Ginebra.

San Miguel left no doubt with this one.

The Beermen are one win away from a fourth straight Philippine Cup Finals appearance, dominating Brgy. Ginebra, 102-81, in Game 4 of their semifinal series Thursday at the MOA Arena.

The three-time defending champions wasted little time setting the tone, leading by 10 after the opening period, before pounding the Gin Kings in the second half en route to a dominant decision.

Armed with a 3-1 lead, San Miguel now has three chances to finish off Ginebra.

"We were able to negate whatever they want because of the energy, and we're able to run our game plan by getting some of their big men into foul trouble. Kasi nag-dwell sila sa kanilang 3 bigs, and pag nagkaroon ng foul toruble ang isa dun, masisira ang kanilang rotation," head coach Leo Austria said.

"Maybe na-surprise sila sa aming zone defense, I think that's the key," he added.

Six Beermen finished in double figures led by Marcio Lassiter's 23 points. Alex Cabagnot had 19 while Arwind Santos was good for 16 points.

Meanwhile for Ginebra, only Japeth Aguilar and LA Tenorio broke the 10-point barrier, finishing with 31 and 20 points respectively.

San Miguel was in control from start to finish, leading by as many as 29 points, 84-55, in the second half.

Game 5 will be on Saturday at the Cuneta Astrodome.
