Kiefer Ravena and Jeron Teng were yet again at opposing sides, this time as coaches for the 2018 NBTC Division 2 All-Star Game
Coming off a grueling playoff run for NLEX, Kiefer Ravena was alive, alert, and enthusiastic as he mentored Team Dedication in the 2018 NBTC Division 2 All-Star Game.
For the PBA’s super rookie, waking up early and working early was no problem at all – especially for the program that helped him go where he is today. “(The NBTC) is everything for me. I’m still a little bit tired from the first conference, but I said yes even though ‘di ko alam kung ano schedule namin,” he said.
He then continued, “Sabi ko maliit na bagay kasi NBTC helped in developing my career whether (on) the basketball court or as a person.”
Ravena also took part in the NBTC Nationals and the NBTC All-Star Game when he was still playing for Ateneo de Manila High School.
The same goes for Jeron Teng who had nothing but great experiences in NBTC back in his time with Xavier School. “Sobrang blessed ako kasi siyempre, kahit paano, na-expreience ko rin naman yung na-expreience nila. I know how it feels to have this opportunity to be watched all over the country,” he said.
He then continued, “We’re all blessed here.”
Teng was Ravena’s opponent, this time in coaching, and called the shots for Team Cherifer Passion.
It was the Alaska Ace’s first time as a mentor and for him, it was nothing but memorable. “Siyempre, it’s a great experience for me. I learned a lot today and it was really fun,” he said.
He then continued, “Nasanay ako all my life playing and now for the first time. It’s a whole new experience.”
For the two of them, coaching the NBTC Division 2 All-Star Game was all about giving thanks. As Ravena put it, “It feels great knowing that I was part of the pioneer group of the NBTC a decade ago. I’m just very blessed to be part and be still part of this program.”
