San Miguel was playing zone for most of the game and Herndon made the Beermen play in the final 12 minutes.
Ian Sangalang was the star of the show and Rafi Reavis made the key defensive stop.
However, another hero for Magnolia in its stunning Game 1 Finals win over San Miguel Beer in the 2018 PBA Philippine Cup was Robbie Herndon.
The rookie sniper fired eight points, six from beyond the arc, in the fourth period to help spark the Hotshots' rousing fourt-quarter comeback from 20 points down.
San Miguel was playing zone for most of the game and Herndon finally made the Beermen play in the final 12 minutes.
"Whenever I see any team play zone, as a shooter it's like a dream come true," Herndon said.
"We know what we can do when there's a zone," he added.
Robbie only ended up playing just a shade over 10 minutes in Game 1. But he made sure the minutes mattered especially in the fourth period.
"I was just on the bench focused, trying to keep myself ready," Herndon said.
"It can be hard sitting down and just getting thrown in there but I've learned how to stay ready. I was glad I was able to contribute when I went in," he added.
