Ping after Hotshots' brave Game 1 comeback: Mas malaki puso nila

"Pinakita talaga nila yung puso nila, na mas malaki yung puso nila, mas gutom sila," --- Marc Pingris on his team's stunning Game 1 win over San Miguel.
Due to an ACL tear in his left knee, Marc Pingris is out for the rest of the Philippine Cup, perhaps even the rest of the season.
But as his Magnolia team started its Finals showdown against San Miguel Beer, Ping's undying puso was evident when the Hotshots erased a 20-point deficit to steal Game 1 away from the three-time defending champions.
"Sobrang proud ako sa kanila," Ping said after Magnolia's 105-103 win Friday.
"Pinakita talaga nila yung puso nila, na mas malaki yung puso nila, mas gutom sila," he added.
In crutches after getting surgery to repair his torn ligament, Ping witnessed his crew's brave fourth-quarter comeback led by Ian Sangalang.
And while the Hotshots' Game 1 win was certainly stunning, Ping wants his teammates to brace for a strong answer from the champs come Game 2.
The veteran forward says that Magnolia's defense better hold up.
"Alam ko naman na the next game, bu-bwelo na talaga yung San Miguel," Ping said.
"Talagang bibigay nila yung best nila. Yung nga ang sinasabi ko, kung bakit tayo nandito sa Finals ngayon yun yung defense. Yun yung key," he added.
