By virtue of yet another dominating tournament, June Mar Fajardo appears to be sure to pick up his 6th BPC plum Wednesday before Game 4 of the Philippine Cup Finals.
At this point in time, the 2018 PBA Philippine Cup Best Player of the Conference awarding ceremony is just mere formality.
By virtue of yet another dominating tournament, June Mar Fajardo appears to be sure to pick up his sixth BPC plum Wednesday before Game 4 of the Philippine Cup Finals.
June Mar's latest trophy will break the tie between him and fellow San Miguel legend Danny Ildefonso.
It also means that Fajardo will take over as the player with the most BPC awards with six.
The one who is most surprised at this impending shot at history is June Mar himself.
"Sino mage-expect non, di ba?" Fajardo said.
"Ano lang ba naman ako dati. Wala akong hilig sa basketball, tapos ngayon mabe-break ko na yung record ng mga magagaling sa PBA. Nakaka-proud sa sarili," he added.
The latest tally for statistical points show June Mar taking a healthy eight-point lead.
His primary challengers for the title are Arwind Santos and Japeth Aguilar. The first is his teammate and the other is the one he already beat in the semifinals.
The BPC awarding ceremony will be a mere formality.
"Syempre dahil din yun sa mga teammates ko, at sa coaching staff, di ko naman makukuha yun kung di dahil sa kanila," he said.
"Para sakin, 'di lang ako yung BPC, kaming lahat," Fajardo added.
