Now down 3-1, the former San Sebastian Stag says that the team will not go down wihout a fight
All what the Magnolia Hotshots want now is an extension.
At least according to Ian Sangalang.
Down two with 9.0 seconds left in Game 4 of the PBA All Filipino Cup Finals Wednesday night, Magnolia had one last chance to force overtime, but they were not able to convert.
Now with his team down 3-1, the former San Sebastian Stag says that the team will not go down wihout a fight.
"Di namin dapat ibigay 'to ng ganun ka-easy lang. Basta bibigay pa rin namin best namin. One game at a time. Basta next game nandyan pa rin kami. Bibigay pa rin namin best namin."
Despite the loss, Sangalang sees a silver lining: holding San Miguel, who normed 102.0 points in the first three games, to just 84 in Game 4.
Magnolia head coach Chito Victolero even called the Game 4 loss 'the best they have had so far', and Sangalang agrees with his mentor.
"Yun yung game namin. This is the first time na ganun yung depensa namin, na na-limit namin [sila]. Kasi yung [first] three games, kahit yung panalo namin, hindi namin game yun eh, kasi umabot pa rin sila ng 100 points."
The crafty bigman posted good numbers once again for the Hotshots, tallying 22 points and 11 rebounds in the Game 4 loss.
Sangalang says that he enjoyed his playing time Wednesday night, and added that he had already adjusted to the defense of the four-time defending champions.
"Ginawa ko lang nag-enjoy ako, once mabigyan ako ng pagkakataon, ayun igo-go hard ko lang, ginagawa ko lang kung ano yung dapat kong gawin. 'Di ako gigil ngayon, parang normal na game lang."
Once Game 5 rolls on at the MOA Arena on Friday, Sangalang hopes that he is unsure whether if he can do with the same strategy he had in Game 4.
"Mahirap sabihin eh. Kasi unang-una, sa depensa kay June Mar, hindi ka pwede mag-relax."
"Siguro sa depensa, konting diin para may energy pa rin -- di naman din pwedeng ibigay lahat sa depensa, para sa may energy pa rin sa opensa."
