Maxie Esho and Saigon will have to hope they rally around the absence of head coach Kyle Julius
Saigon will not have head coach Kyle Julius when it tries to force a do-or-die Game 3 in the quarterfinals of the 2017-2018 Asean Basketball League.
The Heat’s mentor has been suspended by the league after accumulating six technical fouls in the season.
As per ABL rules, a player or coach will be automatically suspended after incurring a fifth technical foul in the season. All additional technicals after the fact will then merit likewise disciplinary actions.
Julius came into Game 1 last Sunday with four technical fouls. He was ejected late before halftime after incurring technical fouls, both for continuous complaining, in the first and second quarters.
The first-year head coach has been credited for Saigon’s return to relevance this season and without him, the Heat will have an even taller task up against red-hot Alab Pilipinas.
The Filipinos are up 1-0 in the best-of-three series and will travel to Vietnam for Game 2 on Saturday at the CIS Arena in Ho Chi Minh City.
As always, that game will be on S+A, S+A HD, and livestream.
