Muntinlupa poured 50 points in the second half to complete a come-from-behind semifinals series win over Paranaque.
Chito Jaime and Allan Mangahas waxed-hot in the second half as the duo powered Muntinlupa past Paranaque, 81-70, in the deciding Game 3 of their semifinals series to punch the last Finals ticket in the 2018 Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Anta Rajah Cup Tuesday night.
The Cagers set up a best-of-five championship date with Batangas after pouring 50 points in the last 20 minutes to overhaul a nine-point deficit at the half in front of an electric home crowd inside the Muntinlupa Sports Complex.
Down 40-31 after the first half, Jaime and Mangahas led Paranaque’s assault to take the driver’s seat in a 26-11 third quarter blitz heading into the payoff period.
The Patriots closed the gap, 75-70, off a layup by Juneric Baloria with 1:18 left in the game before Muntinlupa finished off the visiting team with six straight points.
Jaime posted 22 points and pulled six rebounds while Mangahas added 18 markers, six boards and five assists for the Cager, who completed a series come-from-behind win. Dhon Reverente had 12 points and 12 rebounds while Felix Apreku chipped in 11 markers and 16 boards.
It was a sorry loss for the Patriots, who took the series opener only to falter in the end.
Harold Arboleda neared triple-double with 18 points, 14 rebounds and seven assist while adding three steals and a couple of blocks for Paranaque.
Jemal Vizcarra got 17 markers while Baloria finished with 11.
