Arwind says San Miguel's latest Grand Slam chase is all about pride

"Pagka buo ka, dapat hindi ka natatalo. Oo, pwede kami matalo pero dapat pagka natatalo kami, dapat mas lalo kaming nakakabalik nang mas malakas. Ganun ang team namin eh," --- Arwind Santos.
After winning four straight All-Filipino titles and capturing six of the last 10 PBA conferences, San Miguel Beer's continued quest for winning is more than just about hunger now.
Sure, the Beermen are always hungry for more titles, winning is always a great thing.
But after last year's failed Grand Slam bid, San Miguel's latest chase for the triple crown becomes a pride thing.
For one reason or another, for this year's Beermen, and even last year's crew for that matter, it's going to be rather disappointing if they don't actually win a Grand Slam.
"Nadoon na yung pride tapos nandoon na yung panghihinayang na pagka hindi namin... pag natatalo kami, nanghihinayang kami dahil buo nga kami eh, di ba?" forward Arwind Santos said.
"Pagka buo ka, dapat hindi ka natatalo. Oo, pwede kami matalo pero dapat pagka natatalo kami, dapat mas lalo kaming nakakabalik nang mas malakas. Ganun ang team namin eh," he added.
San Miguel already failed to complete the Grand Slam last year.
And after retaining the Philippine Cup title this year, the Beermen go after the triple crown again, stronger than ever.
A certain Fil-German forward makes that possible.
"Syempre naman magiging maganda pagdating ni Christian Standhardinger. Hindi mo maitatago na mas malaki yung lineup, pero hindi naman doon matatapos lahat eh, di ba?" Santos said.
"Ito ba is magiging effective ba? Or mas maganda ang itatakbo lalo ng San Miguel? Ako, I wish na sana mas maging maganda. Sana ganun din. Sana si Christian is maka-adapt din at maganda rin makisama sa bawat isa," he added.
As the winningest franchise in PBA history, San Miguel Beer is a prideful team, naturally.
For some, staying on top can be a little harder. The motivatiion can waver, it's just human nature.
But for this current Beermen dynasty, their quest for more winning, including the chase for the franchise's second Grand Slam, is all about pride now.
"Sana lang walang magbago sa bawat isa samin. Sana maging ugali lang namin o maging hobby naming manalo," Arwind said.
"Yun naman talaga ang bread and bottle namin eh, yung samahan namin, yung tiwala sa isa’t isa," he added.
