PBA: Can Blur-Bro combo match the success of Jimmy-Jayson duo?

"Kasi parang ako na yung Jimmy Alapag," Jayson Castro said as he takes the veteran role in his tandem with Terrence Romeo.
The brand-new Jayson Castro-Terrence Romeo tandem in TNT is already drawing comparisons from the old Jimmy Alapag-Jayson Castro duo of the old Tropang Texters.
And why not? Romeo is Castro's first star running mate in TNT since Alapag retired the first time in the PBA.
One week after his first official practice with the KaTropa, Romeo unofficially debuted with TNT Wednesday, playing his first game for the team with Castro.
While TNT dropped one to the Alaska Aces, 97-106, the new backcourt combination showed flashes of what they could do starting in the 2018 PBA Commissioner's Cup.
In the first possession of the second half, the Blur and the Bro ran a beautiful two-man set which ended in a triple from Romeo after a handoff from Castro.
It all stems from the familiarity the two already share after stints with the national team.
"Since before naman na magka-teammate kami sa Gilas, alam ko naman kung ano yung strength niya," Castro said of Romeo.
"Sa Gilas makikita mo naman kayang-kaya niya umiskor eh. Dito, the same lang din siguro kasi alam ko naman paano siya laruin eh, matagal na rin naman kami magkasama, at the same time roomates pa kami lagi," the Blur added.
But back to the inevitable comparisons of Castro-Romeo to Jimmy-Jayson, the Blur is only hopeful that this new tandem can live up to the success of the old one.
There's more than enough potential sure. It's just a matter of realizing that potential.
And Castro already knows his role.
"Kasi parang ako na yung Jimmy Alapag," Castro said as he takes the veteran role in his tandem with Romeo.
"Syempre yung leadership Jimmy, hindi naman mapapantayan yun, pero I'm trying na maging vocal sa kanila, at maging leader. Sana maging maganda yung result namin with Terrence," the Blur added.
