Gilas #23for23 prospect Ariel John Edu has announced that he will commit with NCAA Division 1 school University of Toledo in Ohio.
In a Tweet, the Fil-Nigerian bigman bared that he had thought it through before finally agreeing to join the Rockets. "I am very honoured and blessed to announce that I am achieving my dream of playing Division 1 basketball and committing to the University of Toledo," Edu said.
The University of Toledo is part of the Mid-American Conference in the NCAA and finished with a 23 - 11 record during the 2017 - 2018 season. The Rockets fell short of making the NCAA Tournament after falling to the University of Buffalo in the MAC Tournament Final.
The 6-foot-10 slotman also bared that he has fully committed with the national basketball program, adding that "it won't be the last time I put on the Filipino jersey."
Just recently, Edu was chosen as the country's representative in the Basketball Beyond Borders camp in California during the NBA All-Star Weekend festivities.
Edu, whose regular season with SGS College in England had just ended, was named as Defensive Player of the Year and a member of the All-First team of the Elite Academy Basketball League West Conference as the league’s efficiency, rebounding and blocked shots leader, norming a 26.4 PER, 18.6 points, 14.7 rebounds, 2 assists, 1.4 steals and 2.7 blocks per game.
