Less than a week after his elimination from the Asean Basketball League, Fil-German forward Christian Standhardinger is already in the Philippines preparing for the PBA with San Miguel.
The no. 1 pick of the 2017 Draft joined the Beermen in practice for the first time Saturday.
Standhardinger arrived in the country from Hong Kong Friday.
While the Beermen, the defending Commissioner's Cup champions, are yet to be complete in training as most of the key players are still on vacation following a successful title defense in the All-Filipino, Standhardinger says that his first session with San Miguel was near flawless.
"It was great," Standhardinger said.
"Great guys. The last two years I've only had great teammates so that's very good. I think that's a little blessing. I hope that'll continue," he added.
The Beermen's vaunted starting 5 missed practice Saturday but Standhardinger understands why.
He's just looking forward to having them back soon enough.
"I think they're somewhere else, on vacation or something," Standhardinger said.
"They need to recover as well, I mean, they all played a lot of minutes. I can't wait until they're here," he added.
Standhardinger also can't wait to win titles with the Beermen, especially after his failed stint with Hong Kong in the ABL.
"Yes, yes. I think so far, what can I say, they're all great guys," he said.
"I'm excited that we're gonna go together and try to win some championships," Standhardinger added.
