Juan Gomez de Liano is tired, but is nothing but glad to have left his all out on the floor

Juan Gomez de Liano just lost three games in the span of 24 hours.

GDL was the lone bright spot for a University of the Philippines side that dropped their opening assignment in the 2018 Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup last Saturday afternoon.

He didn’t get a chance to rest afterward, also suiting up for Gilas cadets as they commenced their own campaign. Unfortunately, he was also at the losing end there.

Post-game, the UAAP Season 80 Rookie of the Year remained upbeat. “I feel sad. Sad because of the fact I took two Ls today, but bawi na lang tomorrow,” he told reporters.

A day after, he was out there again, going all-out for the Fighting Maroons.

And still, GDL fell short of a win, making him winless in his three games played in one day.

Asked about it afterwards, he answered, “Oh wow. Yeah. It’s tough. It’s tough. It’s tough.”

However, the former UAAP Juniors MVP can rest assured that he left his all on the floor, trying to help his team win. “Sayang cause we lost, but I did my best naman and that’s what matters. I did all I can to help my team,” he said.

Indeed, he totaled 44 points and found himself still on the floor until the dying moments of each matchup.

He then continued, “It’s okay. This is part of the process.”

Having done that much, GDL admitted that, of course, he’s low on gas. As he put it, “Super tired. I was cramping up na nga e, but I told coach I don’t wanna be subbed (out) because sayang.”

That is exactly why he is nothing but looking forward to going home and spending time with his family. “I don’t know what I’m feeling right now. I just know I want to enjoy the day with my family,” he shared.

As for his plans, the State U star said all he wants is some much-needed time off the court. “I hope I get a good rest today. I also hope we get a break tomorrow,” he said through chuckles.

When he does get back on the floor, he said he only wants to prepare better so that his team would also good better. “I think I can do better pa rin. I wasn’t able to lead the teams to a win so I hope that changes,” he expressed.
