PBA: Castro likes what he sees with TNT's retooled backcourt
Adding Jericho Cruz towards the end of the Philippine Cup, the KaTropa went out in the offseason and acquired Terrence Romeo and Don Trollano in separate trades.

Following a disastrous All-Filipino campaign, a rarity in their team, TNT completely retooled its backcourt.

Adding Jericho Cruz towards the end of the Philippine Cup, the KaTropa went out in the offseason and acquired Terrence Romeo and Don Trollano in separate trades.

Sunday against Globalport, even while Romeo struggled offensively against his former team, the KaTropa's new rotation gave a glimpse of what it's capable of.

All the players who played significant minutes delivered for TNT, led by the Blur Jayson Castro who finished with 21 points and 10 assists.

After Castro, RR Pogoy dropped 20 for TNT while Jericho Cruz scored 16. Ryan Reyes quietly went for 13 while Romeo and Trollano were good for 11 each.

While its only one game, Castro already likes what he sees with his team.

"Maganda kasi everytime na pumapasok siya [Terrence], ako, si Jericho, o si RR.... laging may threat," he said.

"At the same time, yun na yung strength namin, kailangan lang namin ma-maximize yun," he added.

If there's one thing the Blur would want though, it's the fact that the KaTropa might want to work on their defense.

TNT dropped 128 points with their retooled backcourth. They also allowed 114 on the other end.

It didn't help that the KaTropa almost blew a 21-point lead in the first half.

"Kasi kahit sino samin kaya umiskor eh," Castro said.
"Siguro yung pinaka-test lang samin ngayon is paano namin i-stop yung kalaban kasi parang nakikita namin na wala naman problema sa scoring," he added.
