Warren Bonifacio and Mapua were no match for fully loaded NU

Without a doubt, Mapua University has opened the most eyes among all 18 teams in the earlygoing of the 2018 Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup.

The Cardinals forwarded another proof for that, dispatching fully loaded National University, 87-82, on Wednesday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

Rookie Warren Bonifacio continued to bring immediate impact, scoring 25 points while also doing a stand up job on the opposing frontline of Issa Gaye, Matt Aquino, and Jonas Tibayan.

Cedric Pelayo and Laurenz Victoria then took care of the perimeter with 17 and 13 markers, respectively, to help Mapua ascend to 3-0.

On the other hand, the Bulldogs suffered their second straight setback to start the tournament. JV Gallego led them in the losing effort with 16 points.

Meanwhile, San Sebastian College-Recoletos routed shorthanded Lyceum of the Philippines University, 74-54.

RK Ilagan topped the scoring column with 14 points while backcourt-mate Ryan Costelo chipped in 10 markers.

They had their way up against a Pirate crew playing without their big guns in CJ Perez, MJ Ayaay, Mike Nzeusseu, and Marcelino twins Jaycee and Jayvee.

Last night, Zark’s-LPU edged out Che’Lu Bar and Grill-San Sebastian in the PBA D-League Finals.

In the day’s other game, University of the East began its campaign with a big bang, beating down Emilio Aguinaldo College, 73-59.

Scoring machine Alvin Pasaol wasted no time turning it on with 31 points in this one and was backed up by Philip Manalang who had 23 markers.
